Magnum Spike is a professional tire deflation system that helps to slow down vehicles that are passing unauthorized at checkpoints, failing to stop when ordered, or are deemed suspicious. Developed for use by law enforcement, military units, border security teams, and private security organizations, the system aims to reduce the risk of sudden loss of control by gradually reducing the vehicle's tire pressure.
Also known as a tire puncture trap or vehicle stopping trap, Magnum Spike can be used in city centers, checkpoints, border crossings, military facility entrances, and areas requiring high security. Thanks to its portable structure, it can be quickly placed where needed and easily collected after operation.
Controlled and Safe Vehicle Stopping Solution
The primary goal of Magnum Spike is to reduce the air pressure in the tires of the target vehicle in a controlled manner, rather than suddenly destroying the tires. Specially designed hollow spikes, upon contact with the vehicle's tire, penetrate the tire and allow the air to be released over a specific period.
This operating principle helps reduce risks such as the vehicle suddenly swerving or the driver completely losing control. Thus, the aim is to slow down vehicles that are fleeing or attempting to pass through the checkpoint without permission in a more manageable way.
Magnum Spike System Features
Usage Length from 5 Meters to 20 Meters
Magnum Spike can be deployed in different lengths between 5 meters and 20 meters, depending on the width of the area of use and the needs of the operation. This feature allows the system to be used in various areas, from narrow passageways to multi-lane roads.
The system can have up to 130 special tire deflation spikes in total. When the vehicle passes over the system, the spikes penetrate the tire and cause the air pressure to decrease gradually.
Manual Operation from a Safe Distance
The system can be manually switched on and off. The special spiral pulley mechanism and the approximately 8-meter-long control cable help the operator remain on the roadside or in a sheltered location.
This design reduces the need for safety personnel to approach the moving vehicle. The Magnum Spike can be quickly pulled onto the road when needed and retracted after the vehicle passes.
Portable and Durable Storage Case
The Magnum Spike is housed in a durable, hard plastic carrying case resistant to impacts and harsh field conditions. Weighing approximately 4-5 kilograms, the system is designed for easy transport to different operation points.
The storage case facilitates organized storage and safe transport of the product after use.
Depending on the model and order scope, the product set may include the following equipment:
30 additional tire extinguishing spikes
User and maintenance manual
Training CD or informational material
Spike insertion and replacement tool
Rope launching kit
Spiral pulley and control cable
Durable carrying case
How Does the Magnum Spike Work?
Before the operation, the system is positioned on the roadside. When a suspicious or unauthorized vehicle approaches the checkpoint, the personnel deploy the Magnum Spike into the vehicle's path using the control cable.
As the vehicle passes over the system, special spikes are embedded in the tires. Thanks to the hollow structure of the spikes, the air inside the tires is released in a controlled manner. Due to the decrease in tire pressure, the vehicle slows down over the following distance and reaches a more controlled position where security teams can intervene.
After use, the system can be returned to the roadside, missing spikes can be checked, and the Magnum Spike can be prepared for a new operation.
Use in Different Road and Weather Conditions
Magnum Spike is designed for use on city roads, asphalt surfaces, checkpoints, and various road conditions. With proper placement and use by trained personnel, it can perform its function even on rainy or wet surfaces.
Before each operation, road width, vehicle traffic, visibility, approximate vehicle speed, and the safety of people in the vicinity should be assessed. The system should only be used by trained and authorized personnel in accordance with the established safety procedures.
Magnum Spike Usage Areas
Police and Gendarmerie Checkpoints
Helps in intervening in vehicles that do not comply with the stop order or attempt to escape from the checkpoint. Can be used in city centers, main roads and temporary checkpoints.
Border Gates and Customs Areas
Preventing unauthorized crossings and vehicle movement
